Fallin' Out of the Sky
his sunset photo was captured at the Cowee Mountain Overlook in late June 2022. Joined by fellow landscape photographer Andre Daugherty, this was originally meant to be an outing to practice astrophotography, but as we ascended the parkway, storm clouds started billowing in from the north-east, engulfing the mountains, then the entire sky as the sun settled. This trip was still fruitful, as I came away with one of my favorite photos of the season, and Andre and I were able to share our experiences as Black landscape photographers and the changes we hope to see in our field.
This photograph was captured an hour outside of Asheville, and printed in Asheville by Henco Reprographics at 24”x36” on Epson Metallic Luster Photo Paper, then framed to size. I hope you enjoy this photo, and I thank you for supporting small, independent businesses.
